Wretch signs a worldwide management deal with ASIA
The new power-trio Karl Simon formed with drummer Chris Gordon and bassist Bryce Clarke rose above their circumstances to issue forth a fearsome salvo of cast-iron riffage and heartfelt traditional metal heraldry, shot through with a steely conviction instilled by the experiences of recent days. “It is a new beginning, but I am what I am. I don’t set out to write a style of music.” notes Simon, “This is what happens when I pick up a guitar”.
Karl Simon comments on joining the AISA roster: “Wretch is thrilled to join the AISA management family; I’ve known Luis from around for years now and always thought he was the real deal, and when I saw they handled legendary acts like Enslaved I knew they were the ones.”
BardSpec released album “Hydrogen” on By Norse Music
On June 23rd, Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved, Skuggsjá) and Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) Ambient project BardSpec debut album was released on By Norse Music, in the following formats:
- 6-panel CD digipak – limited first press to 1000, including bonus track “Teeth”
- Double gatefold LP – limited to 500 black vinyl
- Digital format – including the bonus track “Teeth”
“An elemental trip into dreamy territories…(…) It’s not all a case of total chill-out though as things do progressively temper with numbers like “Salt” peppering their Tangerine Dream origins toward swirling patterns and the most urgent techno beats of “Teeth”. – TERRORIZER
“Replete with shimmering walls of old-school synths and a persistent motorik pulse that’s equal parts Kraftwerk and Neu! Unlike a lot of similarly inclined projects (…) An enthralling trip and another trump for the bearded wonder.” – 8/10 METAL HAMMER
“Is it avant-garde? Experimental? There are times when both those ideas, in music, become disconnected and extraneous to the expression and while BardSpec is different from Ivars’ other works it’s still a very cohesive score that jaunts and details a new horizon exquisitely.” – 9/10 SOUNDSCAPE MAGAZINE
“I loved the atmosphere created by Hydrogen, which sits comfortably with the best work of the electronica heavyweights referenced above. The hooks of ‘Bone’ and ‘Fire Tongue’ will stay with me for a long time and it’s an all the more intriguing listen when you consider the album’s progenitor. From creating intelligent boundary-breaking metal to uplifting ambient electronica, I can’t wait to see what Ivar Bjørnson does next.”– ECHOES AND DUST
